Mounting a flat screen tv isn’t so hard. You’ll have to decide whether you want a fixed, tilting, full-motion or ceiling mount. You’ll need a stud finder, drills, sockets, screwdrivers, a level, a tape measure, and one, maybe two helpers. You will need to mount it near an electrical outlet and be careful not to use hollow wall anchors. You might want to make sure your insurance covers a TV falling on a helper. Or you can call SOS Handyman and have it mounted professionally.
Different kinds of mounts serve different needs. A fixed wall mount may work for a small space. You may want a full-motion mount so you can adjust the TV for best viewing for guests who are watching movies or an event with you.
If you are not sure what kind of mount you want, call us. We will explain the advantages of each. We have mounted TVs in many homes, and elsewhere, such as in waiting rooms and in offices. SOS Handyman will make sure the TV is firmly mounted. We will also make sure it is level and that the center of the screen is at the recommended height from the floor, about 40 to 45 inches. Why is that small detail important? It prevents the neck pain that can come from watching a TV mounted at an incorrect height.
We recommend a cord cover for your TV’s cables. This not only looks better, it is safer, particularly if there are children or pets in the home. It’s also important to make sure that the TV is near an outlet, and that the outlet is designed for use with appliances.
SOS Handyman not only sets up the mount and fits the TV to it, we will program your remote and we will connect your TV to multiple video devices. Give us a call. We’ll install.
